Hotel Runs, Adayar, An impromptu dinner outing and tasted the same felt nostalgic! Must Try:

An impromptu dinner outing with a dear buddy brought back so many memories of dining at Hotel Runs after a swimming session at Anna University during Summers!

The place seems to have got a makeover after renovation and looks much better! AC dining on first floor and non-AC on Ground floor.  We sat in the non-AC section. There's place for 3-4 cars to park and we were lucky to get a spot.

We ordered -

*Chicken Pepper Soup
*Smokey Chicken Tandoori Half
*Kerala Parotta x2
*Kerala Chicken Gravy
*Mini Falooda x2

Firstly, a very enjoyable dinner. Totally loved it, except for a minor glitch.

Smokey Chicken Tandoori was brilliant! Wonderful with the three dips. Nicely grilled, soft and not chewy.

Kerala Parotta was just made, piping hot, flaky and layered, and one of the best parottas I've had in recent times. The size was big and easily enough for a normal eater.

Kerala Chicken Gravy was also tasty Gravy with coconut which instantly reminded us of Parotta Gravy at Mumtaz Hotel in Trichy in 90s, during school days.

Finally what should have been better - though the Chicken Pepper soup tasted wonderful, the small bits of chicken in it were smelly. I've encountered this in many places, especially in soup, even in Star hotels. I've always been thinking this is due to not thawing the meat properly.

If the restaurant says they only use fresh meat and no frozen meat, then I stand corrected and I'm not sure what is the cause for this smell. I had the soup leaving all pieces behind. Other Chicken dishes had no trace of this smell.

The place is small to look at but when you go inside, you can see almost 100 people sitting in.. they expanded the hotel room by room and we got a chance to sit AC room, which was very refreshing to have food at. Sundays or weekends are jam packed. We went by 3 pm still it was rush hour.  Here are the foods we tasted: *Mutton Briyani Very soft meat pieces with very mild masalas blended, which the Kids also tastes is truly appreciable. A...

One Liner, i loved it totally! A fantastic satisfying Sunday lunch at Thahira Hotel, Kanchipuram!

One Liner, i loved it totally! A fantastic satisfying Sunday lunch at Thahira Hotel, Kanchipuram! Being a Sunday, and Pongal festival round the corner, the town was just chaotic! Traffic all over. We struggled to drive, forget parking! A huge crowd waiting to be seated. Biryani parcelled in Mandaral Ilai was disappearing at lightning speed! Amidst all this chaos, we patiently waited to be seated on the first floor. We got a table in about 15 minutes. Quickly ordered all that was given as choices: Chicken Biryani x4 Mutton Fry Chicken Fry Paaya Fry Kuska Biryani was served piping hot! Took a while to even touch it! Chicken pieces in it were super soft and well cooked. Long-grained Basmati Rice, not too spicy, just the right flavour. Reminded me a bit of Charminar Biryani, Royapettah! The gravy served as accompaniment was super tasty! Poured it over the hard boiled egg, it was yumm! Onion Raita was good too, and they were generous with both these items. Chicken Fry was ...
